WATKINS GLEN -- [WENY] A New York State Senator and the Environment Affairs Committee from Seneca County are teaming up to challenge the location of LPG storage in old salt caverns on the banks of Seneca Lake.
As we've reported, Senator Michael Nozzolio wrote the D-E-C to ask Inergy to find a different location.
Now some Seneca County supervisors are speaking out.
A motion to ask the state to find a different site will go to the Seneca County board for vote next week.
Opponents of the gas storage plan are glad more local leaders are on board, but supporters say Seneca Lake is prefect place for Liquid Gas Storage.
It's been months since New York State Senator Michael Nozzolio wrote a letter against liquid gas storage on Seneca Lake.
His problem with LPG storage is a disputed report of a mine collapse in a cavern Inergy midstream plans to use to store butane.
